Are sun certifications worth in india????

hi everyone.
Currently i am working in TCS pune and have passed my scjp1.4 with 90% and was planning to go for scwcd. But some of my co-employees here felt that certifications in a country like india are not worth it.Its only useful in foreign countries.
So all u certs, please let me know if their sun certifications have helped them in any way in india or even abroad in terms of getting in a great company,getting good work,getting higher pay packages,better onsite opportunities etc.

I personally feel a certificate will help you get recognised better especially in a company like TCS which has mindblowing figures for the number of employees working in it.

yes.. certifications do have values..
the best thing is that you get v.much knowledge compare to others

Infact i got job with the knowledge i get by clearing scjp...
and i got 90% .. and that do attracts companies..
