Hi SCWCD Forum,

Yesterday i cleared the SCWCD 1.4 with 86%. I want to thank the authors of the Head First Book. This the second time i am using a book from same authors. The first time was for SCJP. Apart from that i want to thank all
the members of this wonderful group.

My preparation was as below,

- Read HFSJ thrice. First time a casual read, second time i prepared some
notes and the third time it was more of a revision
- Tried few samples to make myself comfortable with concepts like simple
tags, tag files and jstl
- Read Servlet spec once but could not read the jsp and jstl specs

I did a few free mocks which were at jdiscuss, j2eecertificate, jiris. Please note that most of the mocks available for free are for older version of the exam. Then i took the final coffee cram few days before the exam and scored 66%. The +20 rule works and in my case the score was exactly +20

The actual exam was quite easy compared to the one in the book. I got 10 drag and drop questions. Most of the questions were testing how well you understood the concepts. If you put in your efforts to understand the concepts well, the actual exam should be pretty easy one to crack.

A request for the authors of HFSJ, if you can provide the "Two Minute Drill" at the end of each chapter as you have done in the SCJP book, it will be great for last few days preparation. Even though in the book there are short summaries after each important part, it will be of great help if you can do it at the end of each chapter. This is a small request from my end.

For last few days i read notes from www.jemos.co.uk which were just great
for fine tuning. Apart from that i read notes from Giju George which were quite helpful and can be found here

In the process of getting certified, i have learnt a great deal of things. So for me the process of getting certified has been a great learning experience. I wish all the very best for the members who are taking the exam in future.

Regards

Hi All Thanks

Regarding time, it should be more than enough if your preparation is adequate

As for my preparation time, i took around 4 months. During which i was trying to understand the new concepts like simple tags, jstl, tag files etc.
I was more concerned about understanding the concepts which were new to me.
