Hi guys,

After doing a bit of research i've come up with 3 books:
  • 1. Head First Servlets and JSP: Passing the Sun Certified Web Component Developer Exam (SCWCD) [ILLUSTRATED] (Paperback)

  • by Bryan Basham (Author), Kathy Sierra (Author), Bert Bates (Author)
    http://www.amazon.com/Head-First-Servlets-JSP-Certified/dp/0596005407/ref=ref=jr_bunk-20/103-8476135-6003020?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1175581001&sr=1-1
  • 2. SCWCD Exam Study Kit Second Edition: Java Web Component Developer Certification (Paperback)

  • by Hanumant Deshmukh (Author), Jignesh Malavia (Author), Matthew Scarpino (Author)
    http://www.amazon.com/SCWCD-Exam-Study-Second-Certification/dp/1932394389/ref=jr_bunk-20/103-8476135-6003020?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1175581001&sr=1-2
  • 3. Sun Certified Web Component Developer Study Guide (Exam 310-081) (Oracle Press) (Paperback)

  • by David Bridgewater (Author) "We go to the first topics in the Sun Certification for Web Component Developers..."
http://www.amazon.com/Certified-Component-Developer-310-081-Oracle/dp/0072258810/ref=jr_bunk-20/103-8476135-6003020?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1175581001&sr=1-3I personally would prefer the last because it's the most recent, but what do you think?

Thanks in advance for all the suggestions.

"1" is the most used at the ranch, but some ranchers also like "3".
Personally, I would not go for "2"

I believe all the three books are good for the preperation.

I am thinking to buy the "HFSJ" book and the Whizlabs simulator kit. These 2 should be enough for the preparation for the exam.

how much time in the world is enough to complete the DavidBridgeWater book if you are intelligent with sharp memory(provided knowing the HeadFirst?)
Is it a must to get good score?

My book is rather good as well, very reasonably priced and the accompanying web site has about 200 mock exam questions. (see sig)

Well, while we're here, might as well throw this one into the mix (see signature)... 300+ exam questions plus online exam subscription and additional Java EE 5 chapters.

I used 1 & 2 for my preparation. HFSJ was the easiest to understand. Note however that the Head first style may not be suited to everyone. If you prefer something a bit more like a traditional text book I'd recommend the manning version (2) - It covers the JSP section very well. Bear in mind however, that this book appears very much to be a revision of the 1st edition of their book. Consequently it seems to spend a lot of time on some topics which were heavily tested in the 1st SCWCD exam, but not tested as much in the 2nd version of the exam.

The book says "Complete update for the new exam", which is a lie. They forgot to update most of the book, leaving people digging into the specs to make sure that everything is correct. I've printed a lot from the specs and put everything in the book. Just look at the forum of the book, and you'll understand why people like me are angry about it.
