I started my programming life as a C# and ASP.NET developer. After that I realized the Java developers in my country are more paid and more required than .NET developers. So I decided to learn Java and I now work as a Java developer. Adding to that, according to my experience in Certifications, Sun Java Certifications, are very very strong compared to other Certifications such as Microsoft's ones. When you prepare for a Java Certification, you gain a very good amount of knowledge.

In my personal opinion before starting to prepare for such a Certification, it is better to have a good understand of the World Wide Web basics and how does it operate. I strongly advice to read the "HTTP : The definitive guide" by O'reilly. This book is very wonderful book. After that the best resource for preparation is the Head First Servlets and JSP.

For me, having a good experience in ASP.NET and JSP and Servlets helped me a lot in my preparation for the Certification.
