From the book HFSJ, chapter:, page:415
"if the param name used in <jsp aram> already has a value as a request parameter, the new value will overwrite the previous one. Otherwise, a new request parameter is added to the request."

Isn't the <jsp aram> is for customize the page? Then why in above text they have mentioned about request parameter. I am not getting what they want to say from above paragraph. Can anyone please explain?.

Customize the page ? It depends on what you mean by customize. This tag is used in jsp:include, jsp:forward, and jsp arams, to pass request parameters to the page you are including/forwarding. Check the specification "JSP.5.6 <jsp aram>" and you'll understand that it as something to do with request parameters.

I’ve looked at a lot of different solutions, and in my humble opinion Aspose is the way to go. Here’s the link: http://aspose.com
