i`ve solved many SCWCD 5 mocks and found most of them have knowledge based questions than skill Based which SCWCD 5 claims to be.. could anyone guide me as to which mock is closest in tone and difficulty to the real exam...

Thanks in advance...

I have purchased Enthuware....and i am not fully satisfied with it. I had used Whizlabs for my SCJP preparation....and it was really good. so I would say try Whizlabs SCWCD simulator. I bought Enthuware because of price difference between whizlabs and Enthuware....and also Enthuware has got 3 more exams.

FWIW I purchased the Enthuware mock about 4 days before my exam (with only a couple of hours a night study time available). Managed to do 6 mocks in that time, and found it very helpful.

Not exactly the same as the exam, but on the whole IMHO the scope and difficulty of the questions is pitched similarly. With the aid of going through the mock and accurately targeting my weak areas I was able to gain IMHO 10 - 15% on my marks. I could probably have got higher time permitting, but the mock does provide a 1 paragraph explanation for most answers.

Spotted a few errors in the mocks, but MUCH less than HFJS mock. The guys were very responsive when I reported errors, wish I'd know about the 3 errors and a refund though!

So definitely worth the money, even if you've only got a few days to go!

here is my Feedback paul:

my first reply was little impulsive, and I wrote it just after giving 1 mock test. Initially I felt that the questions are not technically accurate. but after trying all of them myself, they were all correct. I fully agree that the Enthuware Mocks are worth every penny. though i have noticed few things which are mostly cosmetics related things and are not really that important.

1. Everytime you open Test Overview window it will open as a small dialog and there is not way to maximize it.
2. I have noticed some spellings/typos in explanation of few questions.
3. the way you guys write explanation is not that explanatory, sometimes you guys just provide some write-up related to subject but not provice why perticular option is correct and why others are not correct. I think that every question should include explanations of each options, why they are correct/incorrect.

Few good things I liked about Enthuware:
1. you guys allow copy and paste of questions. (helps in discussing question with online friends and in Moose Saloon.)
2. by paying less you get more.

I am still not sure about its quality in terms of its more performance based or more knowledge based. We know that SCWCD5.0 is more performance based.

I know that it is often quoted that SCWCD 1.5 is more performance vs knowledge based.

However when I sat the exam, I wouldn't say I noticed a huge focus on performance based questions, well no more than any of the mocks I sat. Remember only a subset of questions have been rewritten for 1.5, and this was removing those questions which were deemed too easy to just remember.

The real questions are a mixture of performance (what will happen with this snippet of code, which one of the following snippets will output what you want), and knowledge (which tags correctly describe a servlet mapping).

If you've sat a SCJP exam in the last few years, you know that you have to read and think with a Sun cert exam. If you have read HFJS or similar book, the level and style of the questions won't be a shock, and IMHO the Enthuware mock is pitched about right compared with actual exam.

If you can consistently get a reasonable score in the Enthuware mock, you should get a similar or higher score in the actual exam!

In the actual exam I found some very straight forward, and some where you had to "step" through JSP with pen and paper to work out what was going on!

Thanks a lot for your detailed feedback, Ashish.

1. On the overview screen, just click on any Question row. You will see the Question details. Here, there is a Maximize icon on top right corner. Click on it to maximize. You can then come back to questions overview. But you are right. This icon should be there on overview screen as well. We will do that.

2. Please do let us know about any typos etc. Besides refunding your money, we will really be grateful to you for your help in improving the product.

3. Sure, we will provide more explanation. Usually, whenever we see any doubt/discussion on our question, we add/clarify additional explanation to that question.

4. Regarding style of questions, we believe they mimic the style of questions asked in the exam. There are some topics on which you will get only a couple of questions but they need more effort in terms of memorization. So question distribution is such that you are prepared well on such topics as well. You might get a feeling that such questions are not needed but they are, if you want to score well on the exam.
Nearly all our candidates have scored significantly more marks in the real exam. So I will suggest you to confidently take the exam after passing all the JWebPlus exams

HTH and thanks again!
