Hey ranchers..

being very novice to the SCWCD forum... I am looking for valuable inputs on SCWCD certification. I cleared the SCJP1.4 in May 2008 and now I want to SCWCD certified resource... I have some working knowledge of JSP and Servlets.. will it help me during my preparations??
Please suggest me if I can persure to the SCWCD.. Moreover how much it would take to get the good score... as I have gone through the Objectives details from Sun site and I notice it require 70% of passing score.. Is this certification is much tougher then the SCJP one??

Hi there,

An acknowledge about JSP and Servlet is good, but you need to study more (focused on Exam Objectives).

For that certification, the content is larger than SCJP (you will study much more), however the exam itself is easier.

There is a book from Kathy very good, study it, pay attention on custom tags, make all the exercises and also make all the mocks.

Good luck in your next target

That's really dependent on you: what experience you have, how you get on with the book, how much depth you want to get into, and what you consider a "good score". Though in my opinion, since the exam costs considerably more than any books, you should try the book first and see how you go, then decide if you need to supplement your learning. The SCWCD should be about becoming proficient with the technology (to the point you can just write and deploy a web app without any references), and not just about the score on the exam. If you find you can't jump straight in with a cert book, or if HFSJ doesn't give you the depth you would like, then you will need to look further afield.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
