Please guide me as to what is UML and where can I get to know more info about it? I have registered for the SCJA and the objective mentions UML.

Is there any resource where I can get more info about UML specific to the SCJA exam.

What do you mean by What is UML? You mean you dont know what UML is? If so, UML means Unitifed Modelling Language.

You can have more info at:
http://www.uml.org/

The exam objectives described explicitly what you need to know:

2.1 Recognize the UML representation of classes, (including attributes and operations, abstract classes, and interfaces), the UML representation of inheritance (both implementation and interface), and the UML representation of class member visibility modifiers (-/private and +/public).
2.2 Recognize the UML representation of class associations, compositions, association multiplicity indicators, and association navigation indicators.

Refers to the UML specification for the required topics.

Hi Anupam,

There're plenty of info on UML on the internet or you can check out Mahesh's SCJA yahoo group for links: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Sun_Certified_Java_Associate/links

Thanks Nicholas and Joyce. I didn't knew exactly what UML was? Probably in a few days will get to it.

To begin with, you can consider to read Fowler's UML Distilled 3rd edition.
