Are you upset? it was stated that the target tester is someone who is a fresher to 6 months within the workforce.

To tell you the truth, even after I worked with JSP, Servlets and EJB for a long time I didn't know the meaning of J2EE and other terminologies. Even managers do not the meaning of J2EE. They don't even distinguish between the simple components of J2EE.

i'm not upset... what I was traing to say is that... they mixed complex questions with too simple basic questions... and, i was expecting the test would be more reasoneble

Just to be clear, what do you mean by "reasonable"? Are you saying that it was unreasonable because there are some very easy questions on it?
BTW, one thing that happens after the beta exam is that certain questions get dropped. Some of the really silly ones that snuck in there are likely to be removed before the exam goes "live".

PS: I trust as an SCJP, you found the exam in general to be pretty easy, right? It's definitely not targeted at people who already have passed SCJP.

I agree with you Dave (... SCJP, you found the exam in general to be pretty easy...)
But I think it is great discussions like this because it ease the choice of the questions to be droped. After all, I belive that who gets the Beta Certification has the obligation to express his/her opinion, so the creators of the exam knows how people see it, from newby to guru!!

I got that in college....I had exams where the first question was the hardest. Evil professors they were.

One of the things that does not seem to be taught is ... how to take exams! There are entire books on this, but too often it seems that most people dont get to know the basics of how to prepare .
Anyway, one recommendation for timed exams where each question is worth the same as any other question: if the question looks like taking too much time, mark it for later review and go on to the next question - if you have spare time at the end, come back to the ones you skipped.
In the case of SCJA, you have 3 hours to do 122 questions. This means that you have, on average, 1.5 minutes to answer any given question (not counting time you may take out for toilet breaks, stretching muscles etc.). So spending 10 minutes on any one question means that you have a much greater chance of failing the exam (not that I am implying that any question would require 10 minutes :roll: )
But the same applies for your university exams (or high school, or ...). If any one question is going to take a proportionally longer amount of time to answer, and it is not worth a similarly proportionally greater amount of the score - skip it and come back to it later.

Yeah, thats very true of any exam. I usually start from the easiest question and attempt the hardest questions last. The effect is as I keep answering the easy questions, there is a small increase in confidence ( a point comes where I feel I shall definetly pass the exam ) and after this I try the difficult questions ( which would basically improve the score ).
I took it today, and I found very easy. In my opinion they should prohibit people that already have any other Sun's java certification to go for SCJA, because if they don't, this new certification won't worth nothing more than a line in a resume.
