Will SCJA loose its value if too many other Java certified candidates take SCJA ?

I do not think so. SCJA demonstrates a broader approach to Java than the other exams - other exams are specific to particular part(s) of Java. The value of a certificate is not by the paper, but by knowledge held by the person holding the certificate.

SCJA is more like a precursor to SCEA ( Sun Certified Enterprise Architect ) Part 1 exam, but having more breadth + additional part of Core Java. Just my 2 cents.

I think you're missing the intention of what was said. If too many certified professionals (and yes, I'm aware I am one) take the exam, I think the concern is that it will inflate the passing score and pull it needlessly out of reach of those who the test is aimed at.

Just my interpretation, though.

But SUN can adjust the passing rate according to the actual performance, and I do believe SUN did.
