Hi All, I cleared SCJA with 84% . Thanks to all members of this site first of all . Your discussions were really valuable . Now i have a very big doubt ? Is this Sun Certified Java Associate enough to take up the SCWCD or do i need to write SCJP ? Do reply. Thanks Alex

Hi Alex, According to the Sun website for SCWCD, "All speciality certifications require that you first be a Sun Certified Programmer (SCJP)" - and they list SCWCD as a speciality certification. So you still need SCJP before you can go for SCWCD. Regards, Andrew

So what is the value of SCJA ? Is it not as valuable as SCJP ?

Any certification is worth only what you or someone else thinks it's worth anyway. But that aside. They're certifications geared towards different things - SCJA is geared towards showing a general, shallow-depth knowledge of all of Java, while SCJP is aimed at showing competance as a programmer. (And how do I know this? My wife nearly passed SCJA - came close, but not close enough - with only six weeks of learning Java under her belt.) SCJP, on the other hand, tests your knowledge of the ins and outs of Java SE specifically before you move onto more advanced topics. Hope that clarifies.
