Who needs this certification

Hi Seema Manivannan.
In your opinion who needs this certification? Serious programmers will opt to go for the SCJP straight away. And I have a feeling the exam might be somewhat to technical for the ms-office-and-powerpoint-bosses around the world. Also, why would they need to know the basics of java? I mean, why should they know how to write code using the correct operators?? What they really should know is different server technologies to understand what developers and architects in projects mean when they are trying to explain why things take time and won't be on budget. (I know the exam covers this to some extent).
The other obvious need for this exam is that it adds another SC** to your resume when you are attending the SC**-reception at JavaOne, making you eligible for a great gift if you have more certification than the majority :-)

I think students and Project Managers (who have experience in other languages and new to Java) would be interested in this exam as it will allow them to learn about Java and it's associated technolgies from 20,000 feet.
Not for hardcore Java programmers I think.

I'd even go far to say that this exam is perfect for an undergraduate grad as the concepts tested provide a good synopsis of what most programs should teach you thus giving you another concrete example of proficiency at least to a basic to intermediate level. If I recall this exam is geared towards those who have coded in java for under 6 months.

If someone is comfortable with the SCJP material, then how would they do on SCJA and would there be an advantage to taking it? Is is a lot of overlap or a different set of material?
