ExamScam vs Whizlabs?

I am currently studying for the SCJA, and purchased both of Cameron McKensize's books. I know both of those books forward and backwards, and was able to complete most (if not all) of the exams with way above average scores.

I figured as a final preparation, id get the Whizlabs exam preparation.

I was shocked when I pretty much bombed every test on there, and found that the questions had little to no relation to what I found in Cameron's book.

For anyone that has done both of these, what does the exam more closely resemble?

Thanks for your help!

I haven't tried WhizLabs, but I hear good things about them. Actually, their banner ads regularly appear as Google ads on my website.

With my exam questions, I made every effort to follow the exam objectives, and not really deviate to subjects that go outside of them. I also wanted to create a resource that prepared people without scaring them. While my questions include a few 'curve balls', I don't throw anything too crazy in there either. Remember, SCJP exists for a reason - the really, really tough syntax questions belong on SCJP simulators. SCJA is the place for basic syntax and fundamentals.

Also, in the study guide, I have 'confidence builder' questions after each chapter that are a bit easier than the exam, but reinforce important concepts. The book also has a number of sample exams, that most people that take the exam say are a bit tougher, although very much in line, with what is on the actual exam. After using both books, my readers are reporting scores in the 88% and above range.

By the way, there is a new printing of the questions book out. If anyone has the old printing, let me know, and I'll upgrade it for them. It has about 100 additional questions and even better answers.

I do hear good things about WhizzLabs, and even JAss+. Remember though, there is such a thing as being too prepared. There's a time where you've got to bite the bullet and schedule the exam, and get SCJA certified.

Cheers!

I would purchase this for a small fee: ht_tp://www.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/WGS-PREX-J019C.xml

At least a few questions I had on my exam were identical, and several others were very similar, to the ones in Sun's online testing software. For 35 bucks you get 3, 51 question tests. For $35 there's really no reason not to. I took my exam yesterday, btw.

Good luck!!

You might also want to try out JAss+. It costs $18 and provide 4 tests ( 204 unique questions.)

ExamScam

Yes, I finally went ahead and scheduled my exam for Monday after waiting almost a month to receive my ExamScam sample question book and never receiving it. I'm hoping the online materials will be sufficient. We'll see

Indeed, Amazon has had trouble keeping my books stocked.

I always sell them directly to people through amazon, but as examscam_pulpjava_publishing. I always recommend people take advantage of the discount I offer, and the fact that I typically ship out the next day.

Jim, check your email. There's something in there to help you get prepared for Monday. Let me know that you got it, and no firewalls stopped it from getting to you.

Cheers!

I got your email, Cameron, thanks!

Yea, I was going to try purchasing the SCJA sample question book directly from your site, but when I clicked on the link to purchase it, it just took me to a page on Amazon where it says it usually ships in three to four weeks. I wasn't interested in waiting that long, so I didn't follow through with the order (I already had an order with Amazon in progress for three or four weeks and didn't want to wait another month to take the test).

I have also bought cameron's study guide book (i've received it two days ago), and i've tried to buy the questions book, but since amazon will not send it until may (may) i've cancelled the purchase.

Cameron, is there any other way to get this book?...

And i've read you that your SCJA study guide covers autoboxing but i don't see it in my book...

Thanks in advance... and greetings for all from spain.

When you buy it off me from amazon, I ship it out the same day. No wait at all. I'm the seller named examscam_pulpjava_publishing. Plus, I sell it at a discount, too!

Thanks for the interest.

Shoot me a message using the JavaRanch mail feature, and I'll tell you more. I don't like hijacking the JavaRanch threads to pump my books too much. It looks bad.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
