Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, and after surfing the forum for while I decided to purchase the McKenzie books...bad luck: Amazon will only ship the Exam Questions Guide to my country (Switzerland), but not the study guide (which is sold by examscam_pulpjava_publishing).. So my question is: Would it make any sense to use one without another? I do have other books on Java, but they're not focused on the SCJA-exam. I know some UML as well, but then again I don't how much is needed for that exam.
Thanks for any help

Kurt

I don't think there would be any problem using any of the books without the other. Let the Author explain this in a better way.

And yes, for UML, the popular 10 page pdf is sufficient. You can get that at http://www.hfoobook.com

If you have good understanding in:
-Java Technology Overview (SE, EE, and ME)
-Basic UML (class Diagram)
-Basic OOP (inheritance, interface, encapsulation)
-Basic syntax

In my opinion, I think you'll not have problems in the exam. Just study your java book and do the exercise questions. Actually, the SCJA exam is for non-programmer, entry-level programmer, and project manager who work in java project. Don't forget too visit SCJA free mock questions by Cameron MCKenzie

good luck

This is backwards to me, Cameron posts here all the time so he may have better comments on the two books but buying either a study guide or an exam guide without several other books is not going to get you where you think it will.

If you cannot afford a bunch of books, most countries have libraries where one may request books beyond the immediate collection. I have lots of them, it is more effective but I do not see where any one book will get you where you need to be.
