Sun Certified Developer.
The most current is "The Sun Certified Developer for the Java[tm] 2 Platform" found on http://suned.sun.com/usa/cert_test.html
Where is the best place to start to prepare?
(Yes, I am a SCJP for Java 2)

Are you really going to do it?
It sounds mighty grueling and it seems that not many people are concerned about it.
So the bang for the buck seems low.

I think you should go for it! You'll be one notch higher when the moment of truth arrives.
Best of Luck!

However, I must see the starting point of preparation. It'll be awhile before I actually 'start' on the assignment part.
What's the best starting point? For SCJP I would of said R & H's book. For SCJD, I don't know.

www.onelist.com has a mailing list called scjd@onelist.com.
go to their home and page and give a search for "scjd". The result will provide you with a link to the registration.
