Marre Mask,
I think there are not many book on RMI in the Market. But check out this link here to amazon site.
I referred the java RMI tutorial and the Core Java book for understanding RMI.

Marre,
Get your hands on "The complete Java 2 Certification Guide" by Simon Roberts, Philip Heller, and Micheal Ernest (popularly known as RHE). Its one of the best books you'll find on the developer exam since it was developed by consultants to sun who are involved in actually grading the assignment. Though it doesn't really cover Design Patterns.
For that you'll need something else. You can download a free PDF format book called "The Design Patterns Java Companion" from http://www.patterndepot.com/put/8/JavaPatterns.htm . It gives a pretty good introduction to all the major design patterns. Hope this helps.
Akanimo.
