Hi Ranchers,
Just passed the SCJP. Do I start the SCJD next or SCWCD?
Which is the one to get me a real job?

Well that's an easy and a tough question. What is your ideal job, is it doing Web Apps, or just Java. Are going to do J2EE?
If you like Web apps then the SCWCD is yours, even EJBs becuase you will get a little taste with SCWCD.
As far as getting a job, I don't think anyone will get you a job. You still have to show experience, or at least something you had built on your own that is cool.
I am currently working on my SCWCD, and I am feeling confident now, and plan to take that test in the next two weeks. However, even though I know I can pass, I have never, or sort of never, have built an actual JSP page, a Tag Library, or Servlet. Now I say sort of, because I took an EJB class last summer, and we went over these API's and did some very basic stuff.
Hope that helps
Mark

Mark -
Do you mean you haven't built any real applications with this technology or that you just haven't "played around" with it much?
Isn't it boring to do just the theory (I have never checked out the SCWCD exam. objectives so I don't know what is required)?
Anyhow - Good Luck on the exam.
Stephen,
Congratulations on passing the SCJP!
I would agree with your conclusion (in some other forum I think) that SCJD does equip you with some practical knowledge.
Maybe you could develop yours with some IDE - visualAge or JBuilder. (Forgive me if you already know either/both). That way you could learn the tools as well.
And yes there are a few down under who are certified .

both
I am not bored because I have done some j2ee EJBs and such, and I really enjoyed it. The experience I had with Servlets was in a class. only in the last two weeks of it though.
