pls dont waste ur time reading technical stuffs. the exam is purely based on ur project - design considerations. just go and take the test.
ex Q:
1. did u extended Data class?
2. how did u lock ur records?

Reshma is right, not needed for the essay exam.
However, Marshalling is the security to allow classes to go through serialization. So it happens with Object Serialization and RMI, and other packages. But it mostly will not allow a class to go from one place to another unsupervised, otherwise I could create a rogue serialized class.
