Hi Guy's !!!
Currently, workin on Servlets & Jsp on Linux Platform & wish to complete this certification level too. However,i do not have much time on hand except for the weekends which i could use to focus on certification preparations. To be frank i have'nt used java networking, rmi & to some extent also java threading in a live scenario. Taking all this into consideration i would very much appreciate if i could obtain some guidance & direction in preparing for this certification in a very systematic approach. Which are "The Best" books that i can depend on ? What are the crucial areas that needs strong focus ? Once i get the assignment in hand what is the best strategy to follow ? Assuming i spend every weekend - sat & sun focusing on this certification, how much time approx. in days should i allocate.
I would very much appreciate all the input i could get that would assist me in working more effectively & efficiently to complete this certification.
Thanks a lot Guy'

The time to complete the project could vary greatly, depending on how proficient you are with Swing, threads, design patterns, and RMI. For me personally, it took about 350 hours. So if you work 8 hours every Sat and Sun, and your level is the same as mine when I started, it would take you
350 hours / (8 hours + 8 hours) = 22 weeks (or about half a year).
Eugene.

I recently wrote a book geared exactly to people with your concerns, and it can found at amazon. It explains all the concepts you need from the ground up(Swing, RMI/Sockets, Threading, coding conventions, patterns you need, creating your jar, testing, etc.,).
