In the future, the most project will be web-based. A little projects will use JFC/Swing technology. Can you tell me what's the benifit we can get from SCJD? Only get a certification? Do we can get such as programmer thinking or others? Do I must get this certification if I want to be a J2EE designer? Can I directly goto J2EE? I am confused by these problem. Thank you for giving me any answer or suggestion about it.
Not all apps in the future will be web based. Currently web based app work well for some apps. But for most custom business applications cannot work in a "Web arena" with HTML. HTML is just not powerful enough. Now there can be some "Applets" that use a web browser, but the actual application would still be written in Swing. At out company out Purchasing Control System is way too complex for HTML. There is just too much that it needs to do and the screens are "Busy" Now besides that the biggest benefit from the SCJD is two fold. 1 it is the only certification that is an App assignment. 2. You will learn a lot more about how to program with Java, OOP concepts, Design Patterns, Exception Handling, Documentation, etc. This can be carried over to all your development. Not just Java, J2EE, but also all other OOP languages. Mark
I'm dedicated to acquiring the Sun certifications because the process of acquiring them carries a great deal of learning with it (plus I found the Ranch as well), but I still pay attention to the press, good and bad, that revolves around certifications. Some employers welcome certified candidates, others regard certifications with skepticism. You may have to explain the reasons why you pursued certification. Certification demonstrates dedication. The SCJD in particular demonstrates your ability to successfully complete a reasonably challenging assignment given a set of project parameters that may be less than ideal. The truth is that a great many projects in the real world do not employ the newest technology. Get the SCJD and SCWCD and demonstrate your ability to excel with varied development methodologies.
I agree: Having some other certifications, including some from a corporation which shall remain nameless, I think that the SCJD holds a unique place among programming certs. If is, to my knowledge, uniformly accepted as a reasonable benchmark of competence. M
Thanks for all hot man. Now I am taking the book of design patterns --"Design Patterns - Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software". I graduated last year. And I have no experence of design a project. I know I have to learn a great of knowledge. But I have too many technology to learn. I am puzzled. Now, I dedicate to this certification to improve my ability. Thanks for you giving me ideas.
