Hi All, Gonna attack the SCJD certification starting almost immediately. I have a few questions I'd love answered if possible first. 1 What version should I do ? Is there a different assignment for 1.4 or you just get to use all the new tools ? Would the test portion be any different ? 2 I'm able to dedicate myself to this cert. Full-Time so how long would it take ? 3 I've been teaching Java for 1+ years now so I would hope its not brain smashing tough. Is it ? 4 Books ? Whats the best thing to use here. I have a 1.2 study guide , but are there others which may be better ? ( or worse ) I look forward to all the replies and also hanging out here as I work away at this certification. Cheers....... hi, seems you are not allowed to use 1.4. So suggestion also from reading this forum would be to use 1.3 (production version). If you are full time working on it it will take you about 2-2,5 months. Also a good suggestion is to read this forum, search on keywords of things you want to know more. Books seem to be available. max habibi who is a regular at this site recently contributed to a new scjd book (read book reviews in here somewhere) Further read about design patterns, (book from gamma and others) specifically factory, facade, mvc, singleton. But make sure that everything you use can be defendedby yourself. Do not implement things you do not know the reason for. eg. people write a lot about a lockmanager. I am not saying this is a bad idea for record locking. But take a look whether you think this is a good solution. Maybe you want something else. regards and good luck, friso
