My exam states that I should use a production java 2 platform and not a developement platform. Where can I find out if the version I'm using is production or not? And also how can I find out how long it has been in production?

Hi Ronnie, Any post 1.2 non-beta version is what they mean. You probably should use one of the 1.3's. Hope this helps, Michael Morris

Michael, I am taking the beta exam for 1.4 and I'm going to assume that 1.4.1 is a production platform.

Hi Ronnie, I think 1.4.1 is a release candidate. I don't think that would be considered a production copy. You may want to stick with 1.4.0. Michael Morris

Hi Ronnie, I looked on the Java !.4 page: JAVA SDK 1.4 but didn't see anything there. You could send the question to: who2contact@central.sun.com. They are pretty good to get back with you on questions. Michael Morris

Ho Ronnie, as an FYI, using 1.4(for either SCJD 1.2/1.4) is perfectly acceptable, per my contacts at the Sun. However, I suggest that you verify this for yourself. HTH, M, author The Sun Certified Java Developer Exam with J2SE 1.4 [ September 09, 2002: Message edited by: Max Habibi ]

Definitely verify for yourself... they (miss green) absolutely told me not to use 1.4 only a few short weeks ago...

Hi all, Sorry I have not been around as much as I would have liked... I have been quite busy taking a great design patterns course, teaching a java class and still working in the real world as I always have (and being married which take a little time)... I will try to get back to helping out whenever I have a free minute like now... Best to all...

Nate, Then we're getting conflicting messages: I spoke with her, and Lisa, and they both told me that it's perfectly acceptable. But yes, by all means, please verify for yourself by emailing. who2contact@central.sun.com HTH, M, author The Sun Certified Java Developer Exam with J2SE 1.4 [ September 10, 2002: Message edited by: Max Habibi ]

Are you guys taking the beta exam? This may be the reason for the conflict.

Hi Ronnie, No, I mean the orthodox version. I used it for my own test. M, author The Sun Certified Java Developer Exam with J2SE 1.4
