Hi,
You apparently need not to stop Server. But yes you have to give provision for locking database. After locking, you need not to unlock database.
But you can do If you want to do. My opinion is to keep it simple just try to retain it with specs. Dont take to much stress. Thats all.

Thanks Gurpreet for your reply. Do you use GUI for server side? What logic to be implemented when you want to close the server?

Hi
Yes, I used Server GUI with following components.
1. Shutdown Server button
2. TextArea with a message notifying about no. of users currently logged into database. And if none is logged then it will say something like "You can shutdown your Server".
3. Lock dataasbe button
4. On menu a Server Help file embedded in JEditorPane.
