Under local mode, the file name of the data file is required, does this apply to the remote mode?

But of course !
Check out the constructors in Data.java, creates a File object from the String dbname is what they do.

well, it could be that when using the remote mode, the data file name is set to the default one (db.db).

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
