Modifying classes other than Data class

Hi there,
Just wanted to know if we would lose points if we modified classes other than Data.java.
I have modified the DataInfo class to return the value of a field given the field name. Is this okay?

I don't have a copy of the examiner's rule book, so I can't say whether or not you'd lose points. If you can justify your design decision however, my guess is that you should not lose points (I changed most of the public methods in Data to package access, for example).
So (rhetorically speaking) where do you use the function you added, and why do you need this function?

The only class I modified was the Data class. Frankly, I can't think of a good reason to change any of the other supplied classes.
