Port number parameter not needed?

Do you think that the port number is needed in command line parameters? At least my server seems to work only with port number 1099.

1099 if the default RMI port, but you can obviously configure it.

That's it. So the question really is : do you want to let the user choose another port, or do you want him to always rely on the default 1099 port ?
Both are acceptable IMO, I would suppose however that your choice should be explained in your design decisions if you decide to use only default.
