I'll be taking the exam on Tuesday, 4/1. Are they expecting to see detailed explanations about our design choices? i.e. I chose RMI: it provided all the Data methods, it fulfilled the server reqs, it abstracts the network away (local v. remote), it embodied data and behavior (whereas a home grown socket thing was just data, behavior had to be developed on both sides of the wire), I've got some production RMI experience and am thus more comfortable with it. In a nutshell, RMI felt better. Is this an OK response? I uploaded the assignment on Friday and have had a couple sudden wake-ups during the night, freaking out about "did I remember to include the?!..." "did I forget to document the!?..." -- and the like. The recent discussions about seemingly decent UIs getting deducted heavily by the assessors has me jumpy. Erick: I just took the essay exam on this Friday. Trust everybody who advises you here. Don't worry. The essay is really easy. As long as you are the author of the assignment, you have no problem. You can still finish your essay even if you sleep half hour after the exam session started. Good Luck !!
I took my essay exam on this Wednesday. It was based on the design choices. All the five questions were descriptive, I took 1 hr and 45 minutes to complete it and then I verified all the answers. When I finally hit the end button it was 8 minutes left out of the alloted 2 hrs. The reason I took that much time cause I described all the minute details. For each question I spend time in thinking what all should I include in my response and then I started typing. I am not that fast in typing but neither slow also. Overall, the questions were easy to answer as they were based on what I did in the assignment. Thanks.

Good luck, Sam. Be sure to let us know when you get your results. I took the exam this afternoon. Everyone was right about its being very straightforward so long as you did your assignment.
