Well guys I perused the book yesterday at the bookstore and looked at the SCJD pages, I found it to be very good. It takes a different approach as you won't see code, but you will get the concepts and designs that are needed.
I found the paragraphs on the assessor and what the assignment is about to be invaluable. It will definitely help those that want to build the Taj Mahal, and don't need to.
Here is the link to the book at bookpool.
The Book.
Although currently it is out of stock, but I am sure Amazon has it too.

I've been using the SCJD part a lot - I also think it's very good, and I'd definitely recommend it. Goes well with Max Habibi's book

As a FYI, based on my conversations with Kathy, I also think it's a good book. She's worked hard to provide a valuable resource to the Java Community, and I think that she's been successful. She has a slightly different approach then I do, but I think that's a good thing.
All best,

Howdy, Mustafa!

Champion, this is the book they are talking about: Sun Certified Programmer & Developer for Java 2 Study Guide.

You might also consider this book: SCJD Exam with J2SE 5, Second Edition. This book is the best reference for the SCJD certification, covers all topics and we highly recommend it!

Hi Mustafa,

Both books are mentioned in the ScjdFaq, together with a whole other bunch of valuable information about the SCJD exam. So don't forget to give it a read.

And try not to wake up zombie threads (this one is more than 7 years old). Just start a new thread (topic) to ask your questions instead of replying to such an old thread.

Kind regards,
Roel
