This week's book giveaway is in the OO, Patterns, UML and Refactoring forum. We're giving away four copies of Refactoring for Software Design Smells: Managing Technical Debt and have Girish Suryanarayana, Ganesh Samarthyam & Tushar Sharma on-line! See this thread for details.
Dear Java Developers, In the case of the hotel booking system do you I give a user chance to make a room reservation for the duration that he or she would like? The instructions states: "date -- The single night to which this record relates, format is yyyy/mm/dd." But this is only a description/explanation and not a requirement, I am right? Please, share your opinion! Thank you very much! +Seid
there is no requirements in the instruction for this, you know, we cannot modify the data file structure, so, where will you store the resevation duration in the data file? We just need to check is it the right date for the client to book that room. You could search this topic using the key word 'date' or 'available date'. I saw there are some threads here discuss this issue. Frank
Hi Seid As Frank said, search this forum and you'll come up with a few discussions around this, but in a nutshell, even though that description of the DB is in fact not a requirement, theres no way to implement duration unless you implement batch/bulk bookings, since that room is available only for that night, so if you want a date range to be booked you'll have to write a bit more code. I'm sure your search will give you a better idea. -TQ
