Hi Ernesto,
Welcome to JavaRanch.
There are lots of people in this forum, and even more on JavaRanch, who will be willing to help you. We look forward to seeing you ask questions (and maybe answer some questions that you already know the answers to).
Regards, Andrew

Hi Ernesto,
Welcome to this forum.
All people here "got an assignment with some connectivity to DB".
Just to tease Andrew a bit (I love that !), I'd say that there are lots of people on JavaRanch, and even much more in this forum, willing to help you (I'm a bit SCJD-forum addict ). You're at the right place !
If I had a first generic advice to give you, it would be to start with using this search link extensively, because it's the best way to quickly find answers to most basic questions.
In that search form, the field "Search By Registered Member Number:" may be helpful. I use it (combined with keyword(s)), when I want to know what a specific member of this forum tells about some issue. My personal best-of of such "magic numbers" (nothing to do with the magic cookie ) are #47425 (Andrew Monkhouse - a very wise guy) and #290 (Jim Yingst, a ... OK, let's say that I cannot tell it in English ).
Now don't hesitate to post any question you have in mind ! My purpose was just to recall that the search link is very useful. Let say that if you ask yourself what "magic cookie" may mean, you'll save your time if you perform a search instead of posting a new thread.
Good luck with your assignment !
