Just curious. I am not yet ready to submit, but before I do I want to find out how people get their results from the exam.
Do you get an email of your results, or do you have to keep going back in and checking the database?
Thanks.

Hi TJ
You should go back to the web site on a regular basis (some people go there 3 or 4 times a day ) to check your results.
You will eventually receive your certificate in the post after you pass, but you will not receive any emails.

Hi Terry,

Sorry to say but the uploading process and the subsequent notification are amongst the two most annoying aspects of the exam. I have never heard of anyone receiving an email notifying him of his results so I think you can pretty much rule that out. I'm checking the database daily myself.
Here's a suggestion that may save you time later on. Apparently everyone's upload permissions are set wrong by default, so everyone has to request for Sun to change the permissions to allow them to complete their upload succussfully. So a week or two before you think you want to upload the assignment, you could send an email to SunCert@prometric.com similar to the following:

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi SunCert,
When attempting to upload the "Sun Certified Developer Assignment for Java 2," I received the following error message:
"You do not have the rights to upload that assignment..."
However, I feel that I should have the ability to upload this assignment. Please make it possible for me to do so.
Candidate: xxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx
Address: xxx xxxxx xxxx xxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxx, xx xxxxx-xxxxx
Candidate ID: xxxxxxxxx
My confirmation of payment is: xxxxxx
Thank you for your assistance,
-------------------------------------------------------------------

The turn-around time is advertised to be about 2 business days, but they have recently had a lot of problems and have sometimes not been able to process emails as soon as they are received and there has sometimes been a backlog for as long as two weeks. (Of course, if every SCJDer didn't need to request special permission to upload the assignment then they would probably cut down the volume of emails tremendously, but that's another story).
Hope this helps,
George

Hi Terry,
Just so I'm not misunderstood: I'm not advocating that you actually perform the upload before sending the email (you only get one chance to actually perform the upload). A reasonable person might say why not just wait until you actually are ready to upload and if you run into permission problems, then you can send the email requesting the upload permissions fix. Well, it sounded so reasonable to me, that it is, in fact, what I did. It ended up taking them two weeks to read my email (due to a backlog) and then a further two days before the permissions were actually changed. Hence the rationale for my suggestion.
Hope this helps,
George

Thanks for the tips. A couple last questions about the new Cert database -
1. In the old database I was able to actually view the scores of my other certification tests. In the new one, when I press "Details" for an Exam Event Type all I see is the "Passed" with no detail score. Is there some other way to see the actual score?
2. I assume that for the developer exam, the results breakdown will appear in the "Exam Comments" section after pressing the "Details" link. Correct?
Thanks.

Not that I know of, that seems to be one of the major improvements in the new certification manager. Hope you kept your results printout you received after taking the exam at Prometric.

I hope that's the case. Maybe someone who has already passed can confirm this.

Hope this helps,
George

Hi all,
I have submitted my SCJD assignment for 3 weeks now and still no response.
Some people are talking about an old and a new cert database.
I'm accessing
http://www.certmanager.net/sun_assignment/login.idc
Can anyone tell me if this link leads to the old or new cert database?
Regards,
Adrian
