Hi
I am willing to write SCJD exam. Can anybody give me suggestion regarding available books and any other helpful resources. What is the latest version of the exam available.

Cheers

The best places to start looking are the links at the top of the Developer Certification (SCJD) forum page.
Also I highly recommend the following book:
The Sun Certified Java Developer Exam with J2SE 1.4
Start reading some of the posts in this forum to get an idea of the what the project is like and the questions people ask.
I believe the two current assignments are Bodgitt & Scarper Contractors, and URLyBird Hotel Reservations. There are several versions of each assignment. The assignments are not identical but quite similar. Most of the posts in the forum would be of interest to candidates working on either assignment.
I also recommend reading this from Sun: http://suned.sun.com/US/catalog/courses/CX-310-252A.html
which discusses the project (what's involved, how long the project should take to complete, etc.)

Dear Muzammil, in addition to the link suggested by the other poster (which I confirm as being a good resource for the SCJD exam) I would suggest also the following:
1) Java RMI, author William Grosso, edited by O'Reilly
This gives you everything you need to know about Streams, Sockets, RMI, RMI security, Serialization, Threads and Testing (and more, but the advanced topics go beyond the SCJD scope)

2) Up to Speed with Swing, author Steven Gutz, edited by Manning
This is a very well written book about Swing. It starts from the beginning with very simple examples, and then evolves up to the coverage of all anspects of Swing. This will cover the GUI anspect of the SCJD, like Frames, Dialogs, Tables and Event handling.
HTH,
Marco
