I'm thinking we need a new forum in the engineering section called "Testing"
Comments?

What kind of things do you see going in there?

As in "unit testing", "system testing", "beta-testing" ...?

Test first programming?

Unit testing, integration testing, system testing, test first programming, JUnit, JTest, WinRunner, QA, etc.

If you were to combine this idea with eXtreme Programming then you would have posted a 'test post' before posting this post...

I strongly appreciate this step. Now-a-days I am browsing a testing/QA site a lot named QAForums

Good Idea.
But can we club Performance and Testing in one forum. The Performance forum moves a bit slowly (atleast these days )

It seems that most performance questions get asked in the forum that relates to the item requiring performance. Questions about EJB performance get asked in the EJB forum.
Maybe we should rename the performance forum to Testing and then post a message saying something the change. This way we keep all of the old posts for searching.

I have just read something about Mock Objects which seems to have something to do with unit testing. I couldn't understand a word of it, so stick Mock Objects in this new testing forum please very much.

True. The ones that do end up in Performance are usually those that relate to core language features.

I don't think so. Most of the posts that are currently there have little or nothing to do with testing. Perhaps more of them should ("are you sure this question you have is even an issue? Have you done any profiling?" etc.) I could see combining Performance & Testing maybe, as long as we realize that many Performance questions have little to do with Testing, and vice versa. Maybe we can at least encourage more people to test before asking how to improve performance.

Performance and testing belong in seperate forums. On the other hand, it's not too late to rename the Performance forum to 'Algorithms and Performance' ala an old discussion. The topics mesh well enough, I'd say. Bet you thought that thread was dead, eh? I don't forget these things so easily.

If a sheriff would be so kind as to create the forum "Testing" in the top of the engineering section, that would be lovely. Maybe a bit of text to go under the title listing the kinds of testing we're talking about.
And then we should open the forum with a talk about mock objects.

Will JUnit specific questions go in the new testing form or the open source projects forum?

I think JUnit stuff would be best to go into the testing forum.

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
