How to be sure only an instance?

hi, everybody.

My assignment is nearly completed. After packaging all files into runme.jar,
I expect only one instance of the runme.jar in a machine at one time. I look
many reference books, but can't find any related information.

Do anyone have a good idea for me?

best regards
