The most popular book in this forum seems to be The Sun Certified Java Developer Exam with J2SE 1.4 by Mehran Habibi. Mehran (known as Max out here) is sometimes active in this forum answering questions. (I don't know if he's out there lately though - I haven't been around here much.)

Also, see the SCJD Reading Materials and SCJD Faq links at the top of this forum home page.

I strongly suggest Mehran's book as a must have for anyone considering this certification. Also, you can find tons of good info out here by using the search tool and searching this forum.

Good luck!

Hi Chris,

Welcome to JavaRanch and this forum!

You may like to look at the JavaRanch Reading Material list.

The best book for SCJD preparation undoubtedly is
Mehran (better known here as Max ) Habibi's one: "The Sun Certified Java Developer Exam with J2SE 1.4".

Frankly, this list is a great resource. I really couldn't find much use out of the SCJD book by Alain Trottier. That, and, like googling for stuff like javadoc.

I have to agree, the Ranch is a great forum for the SCJD. Andrew, Phil, and the general cast are incredibly helpful and kind. And my book isn't too bad either

Good luck!

Max, your book is a lot better than "not too bad". It's a must have!

SCJP1.4, SCJD, SCEA (in progress)
