B&S: What does "recNo" means?

In the DBMain.java provided by Sun, There is a parameter "recNo" as in the following code.


What does the "recNo" means? As I see, there is no such field in the database file. How can I create the recNo and where to store and identify it?

recNo mean simply... record number.

recNo is the relative record number in the flat file. The first record after the header information can have an arbitrary value, such as 0 or 1. All remaining records are numbered sequentially from there. If the first record is 0, then the location in the file of record recNo is
