How to go for SCJD

Hi I have cleared SCJP 1.4 and now moving towards SCJD. If anybody will help me in telling how to proceed for SCJD .like
0 How much time will it take for preparing
1. Should i take the assignment and then start studying as well as working on the assignment
2. Or shud i start atudying first and after that i shud start working on the assignment.

I am new to Java and just covered the topics in SCJP1.4 only

Please guys help me in geeting through this.
