How to list all the threads which I have started or replied? I tried a search with my name and then with my User ID. Both produced only 4 results. Is there any other way to do this? -sudharsan
Click on the "search" link (top right corner of the page) under the "Post New Topic" button. Hit "search". For this forum, that will take you here. Put your user number (32649), not your name, into the bottom search field. If you search on your name, it will look for your name in the text of the post (it doesn't recognize your name on the side).
You will have to do this for each forum separately, though. [ January 26, 2003: Message edited by: Marilyn de Queiroz ]

Alternatively, you can mark each thread that you start to notify you by email when someone posts to that thread. This only works for threads that you start, however. [ January 26, 2003: Message edited by: Marilyn de Queiroz ]

Thanks Marilyn! I was using the general search button found at the bottom of the page and was hoping to see all the threads.

Hmm.. UBB needs a lot of feature upgrades.. thanks Sudharsan
The google search at the bottom of the page only shows the pages that google chooses to cache - and it does not do ALL of them. The UBB search allows an "all forum" search, but with so many users that feature was crashing the server several times a day, so we turned it off. Now if you can think of a way for us to have LOTS and LOTS of money for extra servers and whatnot, then we could consider turning that feature back on. Got any money laying around?

What about starting a background thread when somebody initiates a search on all forums? This thread can be run at a low-priority, and the results can be mailed to the user later. I don't know to what extent you can customize the UBB, but if this can be done, it it better than nothing.

How much do we need for this? Can't we make a public request for Donation citing this reason? Wo'nt that be a great reason to donate? ;-)

The forum is written in Perl. Starting background threads in Perl is beyond my knowledge.
What is the cost of maintaining these forums and the JR site, per month? I'm jus' curious. -sudharsan

I don't know. You would have to get an answer from Paul Wheaton.

I think that he is rather busy trying to deal with one particular other user  . Did you miss our donation drive when we needed to get new memory? Lot's of folks chipped in to help. It was really heart warming to see. It also kept Brenda from murdering Paul when he swipes the grocery money to pay the server support bill .
