B&S: Search which exactly match to values specified by the user?

Hi,

my assignment says about the user interface:

It must allow the user to search the data for all records, or for records where the name and/or location fields exactly match values specified by the user.

I have a problem with the exact match term.

What happens in case I use the pattern typed by the user for name and/or location and list all records that include this pattern in its name and/or location fields?

Will that generate an automatic failure ?

Any hint is welcome.

Regards,
Darya

I should have searched our lovely database at first .

There is a terrible simple answer to this question in thread search requirement in B&S

Yes, that might be. I too felt that providing an exact match only was too restrictive, so I implemented a choice for the user to search for exact or partial matches.

However, I did lose some points on the GUI section and it might be because of this.

Hi Frans,

when you offered a choice between exact and partial match, then you fullfilled the must requirement and hence you can not have lost points in your GUI.

In my case I have only the partial match to offer but I am going to change it now.

Yes, that was my assumption too.

Of course I do not know why I lost points on my GUI. I can think of some other things that cost me the points

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
