Is it safe to assume that a server installation which exports the interfaces and class implementation via FTP is part of the project scope? I don't recall this anywhere noted on requirements unless this is just a given.

Um..... FTP? You really mean File Transfer Protocol?

Hi Shannon,

Check your instructions. You possibly have a statement to the effect that "You must provide all classes pre-installed so that no dynamic class downloading occurs."

So FTP should not be needed / used.

Andrew is right, usually the RMI codebase could be set by using a URL, but at least my assignment requirements explicitly stated that I should not require a HTTP server or security manager.
- you can complete your project without either (I used RMI too).
