scjd preparation

hi all,

is this a good preparation?

- hf java(the version that corresponds to the exam)
- uml in 24 hrs book
- hf design patterns
- kathy sierra's scjp&d book (scjd portion)

i like the 24hr series, they are a less painful way to dive into something new, as they are written for high level executive roles, but are good enough as intro to developers

re: uml in 24 hrs...

but maybe knowledge in uml will help for designing the project for part 1? what do you think? or is the project too small that uml wont help

you MAY of course use UML in design phase if you feel this would help you personally. nevertheless, it is not required.

from my point of view, most of UML gets really valueable if communication with other people involved.

just my 2cents.

UML is not a stated req. Better to keep it simple.

I am using Trottier's Exam Cram : Java 2.

There have been a few complaints in re: the LockManager example used in the book. But, so far, it provides some solid foundations to begin with. One being, go to JavaRanch.com.
