Hi ranchers,

I have just completed my scwcd exam and i want to take the SCJD exam. But i am confused about the entire certification process. Please do correct me about following steps for the certifcation
1. purchase CX-310-252A voucher ($250)
2. Downloading assignment
3. Completing the assignment as per instructions.
4. request upload rights via email to: suncert@Thomson.com
5. Upload the assignment solution
6. Purchase CX-310-252B voucher for $150
7. Take CX-310-252B exam
8. Got the assignment evaluated
9. Wait for nearly 4 weeks for the assignment result

Doubts:
1. Does the assignment evaluation depend on result of CX-310-252B exam?
2. Is the Sun Certified Developer for Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition - Essay Exam for J2SE5 CX-310-027 or CX-310-252B? I have observed CX-310-252B code on some postings at java ranch.
3. When does the assignment evaluation process commence i.e. right after submission of assignment, or after just taking the essay exam, or after taking and succesfully qualifying the essay exam ?

Sorry if you found some of my queries redundant in one form or other or can be answered using common sense. But please do reply.

Regards,
Lalit

hey lalit,

to make a complicate looking process short, i reordered your list. that's the way i fulfilled my exam:

1. purchase CX-310-252A voucher ($250)
2. Downloading assignment
3. Completing the assignment as per instructions.
6. Purchase CX-310-252B voucher for $150
4. request upload rights via email to: suncert@Thomson.com
5. Upload the assignment solution
7. Take CX-310-252B exam
8. Got the assignment evaluated
9. Wait for nearly 4 weeks for the assignment result

i had to wait 6 or 7 weeks, and it really sucks to check the account on a daily base... how come they cannot send an mail? just wondering...

hope it helps,
jan

oops, just saw your further questions:

1: as far as i know: "kind of". if they ask you to explain this or that detail of your assignment, and you answer does completely mismatch the spotchecked(?) code, i'm sure you are out...

2: ???

3: the exam is nothing where you can really fail. for example you can see that there is nothing like a "i did the assigment but failed the exam" voucher to repurchase. so i guess the following: if you uploaded your assignment and wrote the exam, they put you on a fifo-queue. then they test the code, spotcheck the exam and judge your documentation. that's it.

2. Downloading assignment
3. Completing the assignment as per instructions.
4. request upload rights via email to: suncert@Thomson.com
5. Upload the assignment solution
6. Purchase CX-310-027 voucher for $150
7. Take CX-310-027 exam
8. Got the assignment evaluated
9. Wait for nearly 7 weeks for the assignment result

Hey Jan Groth,

My 2nd doubt was regarding the exam code(CX-310-252B or CX-310-027 ) for the essay exam due to postings at this forum and at sun's site but Ailsa Cape had replied to it. So the doubt is resolved now.

So thanks to Ailsa Cape and Jan Groth for helping me out in the initial phase.

Regards,
Lalit
