Assignment Time Limit

Hi Ranchers,

I would like to know if there is a time limit for the first part of SCJD.
I downloaded my assignment one year ago and I'm going to upload now.
The voucher I used to download the assignment has expired in 12/31/2006.
I have another voucher to do the essay exam that expires in 10/31/2007.

Am I enabled to upload my assignment?

Regards,

Reply from Sun:

"There is no time limit to complete either the Architect or Developer certification.
After you upload you will need to take the essay exam as soon as you are able because the upload and essay are graded together.
You will not see updates regarding this certification at the i-7 cert tracker database until after your assignment grade has been returned, which normally takes 2-4 weeks."

Hi,

I dont entirely agree with Rodrigo. I got the following answer from Sun:

"Exam vouchers are valid for one year from the date of issue. Voucher expiration dates cannot be
extended. You must register and take your exam prior to the date printed on the voucher."

So, I would advise to pay attention to this.

Hi Rob,

I've received an e-mail from thompson.com that the voucher expiration date is valid to download the assignment. After downloaded the assignment, you don't have time limit to submit the solution, because you gave them the voucher number to download the assignment, not to upload it.
After uploading it you must do the essay exam as soon as possible using another voucher, because the first one was already used to download the assignment.

Now I'm a bit confused

Rodrigo,

You are confused? So am I and many others I guess. It isnt crystal clear, even the books discussing these topics state that there is no time limit.

So I would suggest to play it safe. Make sure to finish the assignment and the follow up exam within one year.

Good luck..

Why are you confused?

If Sun replied that you can upload the code then upload the code, here is why I understood.

The first voucher will let you yo download the assignment.
There is no time limit to upload the app.
Then you'll have to have another VALID voucher for the oral exam, if you had one and expired just buy another one and do the exam.
And after that you passed the SCJD,
