Hi all,

Can someone just clarify my thinking on the GUI search requirements for B&S please.

In my instructions it says the following:

'It must allow the user to search the data for all records, or for records where the name and/or location fields exactly match values specified by the user.'

The 'name and/or location' is clear but does 'search the data for all records' simply mean 'display all records'.

Thanks
Rich

Hi Richard,
Yes you need to display all record that match the criteria.

On the same line of enquiry I am not entirely sure how this should be interpreted.

It must allow...name and/or location fields exactly match values specified by the user.

I read this to mean search strings entered in the GUI must return ONLY THOSE RECORDS THAT EXACTLY MATCH, even though the database find operation matches strings that begin with the search criteria

It seems like a crazy requirement and would require the resultset of the find operation to be processed before being displayed in the GUI.

Is this how everyone else interpreted this, or am I being too cautious about the must word.?

hi Martin,

That's how interpreted it too: the interface is more flexible the the gui.
