Hi guys:
I just submitted my SCJD assignment and prepare for taking essay exam.
I am planing to take another Java certification this year,
maybe SCBCD or SCDJWS.
But at this moment, I would like to ask
Does SCJD or other Java certification really help getting a Java programmer
job in U.S.?
Did you have experience or ever heard that getting a java programmer job in U.S. due to a bunch of Java certification?

Thanks

I think that it's important to bear in mind that certifications are really a means to help distinguish yourself from another candidate, rather than to be the sole means to get your foot in the door at a new job. Despite my (imho) impressive list of certifications, I still depend on my experience as a software developer to draw attention when I'm looking at job opportunities, and the certifications then serve as more of an illustration as to breadth of ability. (I think I'd be somewhat concerned about a company that hired me solely on the list of certifications.)

That said... when I have been the one doing the screening for open positions at companies I've worked for, I have taken certifications into account as a means of distinguishing between similarly experienced candidates.
