Yesterday i cleared the SCJP exam and thanks to the Java Ranch, Marcus Green and others who is providing the resources and mock tests. I have been preparing for this exam since 2 weeks. I have Java programming background for about an year. But, there are lots of issues you never come across like the ones in the SCJP.For that, you need a good certification bok. I read only Robert & Heller, nothing else. While i am learning Java, i have read Java Programming Language(From Sun source), Java FAQ(From Sun) Sun java tutorial and Core Java. The exam is not that difficult. There are a mixture of easy questions and hard ones.
Good luck for everybody who is preparing.

Hi Kris,
Thanks! Most of the questions are from language fundamentals than packages. I got one question on I/O, nothing on painting or components. So, try to understand language fundamentals rather than packages. I got atleast a question on each of the objectives they mentioned. Before winding up the preparation, look at each objective and try to recall what you covered. That should help.
Good Luck
