Hi everyone,
I cleared SCJP2 exam about 2 weeks back, but since I was busy at work, I could not post it here. I have been closely following this site for about 2 months now and was posting/replying questions rarely. But, I owe my success to JavaRanch and all the other candidates who have shared their knowledge here at this site. I rate this site as
No. 1 for those preparing for Java Certification.
I would like to say special thanks to Jim, Tony and Maha for their excellent and elaborate responses and Paul for maintaining such a good site. I hope they continue to keep up their good work and benefit several candidates studying for certification. I gained a lot of knowledge from the Marcus Green's site too and would like to thank him for maintaining such a informative site.
I would recommend candidates to study the concepts and try out as many examples, exercises as possible given at the end of any general Java books(other than certification books) like: Beginning Java2 by Ivor Horton, Just Java2 by Peter van der Linden or Java2 How to program by Deitel & Deitel.
I have studied for certification from the following books:
- the popular, RHE's certification guide
- Barry Boone's All-in-one(prog/dev) certification guide
- Exam Cram/Exam Prep by Bill Brodgen
Also, once you get a good understanding of the subject, try out as many mock exams as possible and ofcourse, try to visit this site often to get/share useful info.
Regarding the exam, it is easier than most of the mock tests and there were NO ambiguous questions. IMO, certification exam is similar to the standard of RHE's test and Marcus Green's mock exam.
Thanks,
Suresh
