Is 4 weeks of solid studying enough to pass SCJP exam, or am I thinking unrealistically? I have a little knowledge in java from what I have read/practiced, but no other experience in programming. I need to take the exam by the end of August at the latest for my work.
This is somewhat of an abiguous question, but I'm just curious as to whether I'm going after too big of fish without enough fishing line.
Thanks

If you have to take it by the end of August don't stop studying if you started already. If not, start ASAP

Hi Toni,
It is the same with me again !
I have unrealistically put up a date of end-August to myself !
Is 3 hrs a day enuf to build up a solid base for the
certification ? I am banking on RHE, Javaranch and atleast
5-7 mock-tests....Is that OK ?
Actually, I have been reading on and off from almost 3 months
and have no OOPS exposure....nor Java exposure at the workplace.

Praveen & Muskellunge,
4 weeks with 3-4 hours a day will definitely see you through. But to get an excellent score, (say above 95% or so) you may need certain perfection for which the period may not be sufficient due to your non-software/non-programming backgrounds.
But I am sure, you will pass the exam, given the time frame.
regards

You guys have made me feel a little bad about myself. I've been studying 3-4 hours a day for nearly 2 months and only now feel confident enough to give the exam a go. I've got it on Friday. Maybe I'll see you on the other side.
