When u talk about API it means 'application program interface'
with reference to the syllabus does this include chapters like
java.lang package,java.awt packages and the other inbuilt packages.Please help, what does API in terms of the exam objectives include or mean?

hi,
IMO u have not gone through the Exam Objectives which are very specific and very clear. Go through the Exam Objectives http://suned.sun.com/USA/certification/progobj.html.
for example the coverage of
java.lang PACKAGE.
is limited to the following
Write code using the following methods of the java.lang.Math class: abs, ceil, floor, max, min, random, round, sin, cos, tan, sqrt.
Describe the significance of the immutability of String objects.
