Hi, Everyone: I am new at this site. Can anyone tell me where and when to take the SCJPtest? Any good books for the preparation? Any where I can find some sample test? Is the mock exam offered by this site close to the real test? Any suggestion will be highly appreciated. Thank you Tony
Tony, Here is the recipe for SCJP. Step 1 - Read more details about certification program from Sun's website. You will also get information about how to register. Step 2 - If you are an experienced Java programmer, read one or two certification guides. The Bunk house has a list of books also covering a couple of Certification guides. You can also use the Search facility to read older messages about other popular certification guides. If you are new to Java, you should first read a couple of Java programming books before diving in. Step 3 - Come here often. Try to answer questions posted by others. Get a feel for your strong and week areas. Get inspired by dozens of people who get certified every day. Listen to their experiences and valuable tips! Step 4 - Take the Mock exams. They are free!. Java Ranch has a List of mock exam sites and here is another excellent list compiled by Chitra. Step 5 - When you start scoring consistently above say, 85% take the exam. Ofcourse, if you want to score a very high percentile, see that you reach there when you do the mock exams. Step 6 - After passin the exam, come here and announce your achievement with pride. Inspire and help others!
Hope this helps, and Good luck! AJith
